Shawn,

Many thanks for the very kind words about Soul Shelter. To hear that you've been inspired by your visits here inspires us to keep it going strong. Thanks, too, for pointing us to your Obama film. Brilliant work.
Cheers, Mark

Jess,
I had a similar regret on Election Night. I would have loved to be out there amid the people to see democracy embodied so vividly. Did get to see a few celebratory neighbors come out to set off fireworks, though! Thanks for reading.

isn't it wonderful? Election Day was like nothing I have ever experienced -- an entire country brought together in reverence (and sometimes joy) over the process of voting for our next leader. I had a party at my house that night, and while it was great to have a gathering of friends, my one regret is that I wasn't somewhere where I could go out into the streets and mingle with joyful strangers. The next morning, getting a coffee, I said to the barista, "I wish I had hugged someone I didn't know!" It is so heartening to see that this country can still come together in that way, in a moment of joy instead of a moment of tragedy.

Just prior to Election Day, I went searching to help a dear friend find solace in her distress over the negative campaigning. It was hurting her. I found your post "Resources for Election Day". It was the perfect medication for her "soul sickness". I subscribed to Soul Shelter right away and inhaled your previous writings and have turned a number of people on to your blog. Thank you...your writing is inspiring.

I want to share a 30 second video I created for the "Obama in 30 Seconds" contest. The contest ran before the primaries to aid in supporting Obama's bid. I hope you enjoy it.
